Weep Holes and Foundation Vents

Weep Holes and Foundation Vents are architectural terms, referring to outlets allowing essential ventilation and drainage for trapped moisture. Inspired by the metaphor, I was also intrigued by the visual impact. Because these common surfaces and spaces are often camouflaged or hidden, they can easily be overlooked by passersby. These images suspend forward movement and turn the viewer to the wall—to focus on the architectural surface as it meets the ground or sidewalk. As formal abstractions the meaning unfolds gradually.
