Paradise

This body of work uses a strategy where the signifier is the physical form of the sign. Formalism is at work with a circle within a square within a circle, rendering the objects as icons and symbols. These began as  general truisms and gradually became a personal language. I pictured the photograph in my mind then wrote the word of the object down on paper taped to the wall. If in a few days, if I had the same visceral response, I made the photograph. Some are deeply personal; I never expected the viewer to understand the reference. Yet, as Lisette Model knew, the more personal, the more universal.
